Tech stuff

 Home stuff

I got two home networks, one in Ha Noi and one in Quebec City. In Quebec city that’s pretty much three laptops, my daughter’s old acer broken but still running P3 laptop (600mhz, 512mb running Ubuntu Feisty) , my wife thinkpad r33 running Ubuntu Gutsy and my son gateway 17inches who dual boot, gutsy and vista (at first glance it’s a nice machine but after a while it has a LOT of shortcomings). All that linked to the internet with the latest dd-wrt on a linksys wrt54gl.

The second network in Hanoi composed of a no name desktop  (AMD 64 x2 6200, 1 gb) that is becoming the local server, my Acer Aspire laptop (dual core, 1,6ghz 1gb running Ubuntu ) and two routers linksys routers (one of them being a guinea pig stripped open, I’m waiting to have some time to connect a ) all running open-wrt.

I still haven’t finished this home server, but that’s in the plans, since I don’t want to mess up my laptop with 2 versions of apache and php and whatever web development platform.

Work stuff

I’m also responsible for several servers (Debian 3.1, Ubuntu Server 6.06.1 and Fedora Core 7, and 3 smeserver 7.3) Most of the stuff is just about file server, DNS, dhcp, intranet and websites. I ‘ve been managing a windows 2003 server but few months ago.

I like very much to test new CMSes (and more recently ECMS), that’s why my laptop install become very messy after a while

I use CSSed, gEdit (with few plugins) and vi for web development, I’m trying to use Eclipse Aptana but I found my old tools much faster.

I have too much firefox extensions, I often get rid of some of them because I don’t use them, but one I will never get rid of is the web developer one.
