Complaining about Vietnam ISP

At least in the north one should complain, and here I am complaining.

Apparently several things are happening in vietnam.

The good thing : at home my connection is very fast, much faster than it use to be 2 months ago (I’m using FPT)

Now the bad :

  • FPT started few days ago to blacklist the ngocentre.org.vn mailing list that is very bad, and only some human interaction will permit to whitelist the server, so long discussion are happening.
  • FPT made a massive upgrade in their DNS causing massive disruption in web access
  • Viettel are also changing their cache and apparently this has also disrupted some
  • I’ve heard that Viettel is also deploying filtering technique that can be apparanted to the great chinese firewall
  • VDC is still lame in speed, and unresponsive when we call them

As a general recommendation go with FPT, they poison their cache for censorship, but that’s all they do, and their service on the phone is much better than the three others.

FPT would be the best choice however I would try it before because I always find out that accessing websites in China is slow, whatever the ISP.
If you need to have a server outside of Vietnam, then go to Hong Kong, it’s always the shortest in hop from Vietnam (at least Hanoi). People from HCMC may say Singapore.
    Hope it helps
