While we are still looking at a general definition of what is web 2.0 here is few things that we can say about it.
1- It’s the internet, sound obvious eh? Not really, web 2.0 is not limited to what your browsing is basically is offering you but also : rss, email, xml, back side APIs. It also means that not all web 2.0 are “websites” therefore we should rather call them “applications”;
2- It’s people related, whatever the are representing an organisation or a group web 2.0, applications are connecting people
3- here it is p2p, web2.0 application are exactly like those file sharing appliations : a protocol such as torrents that connect people who have the same goal, download a file whereas the more people downloading the faster it gets.
4- That reminds me linkedin, who connects professionals who wants to be connected with your own network, the more people are in your network the more likely you may find someone who wants to do business with you. Facebook does the same connecting people you know with other that you might not know directly
5- Therefore web2.0 is probably not about new technology or new feature but about how we use it. Before it was like reading the journal, now the web is a “cooler” picture of what it use to be : connecting people who are sharing various level of togetherness.
Since it is about “the big picture” one of the reader came and post a link on a blogger in vietnam who’s interest is about web2.0. It’s last post is about a map of the web2.0.
