If you think to “upgrade” your computer to Microsoft Vista, I recommend you to think twice and read a little bit about the freedoms you will loose by using it :
- You will need to activate it absolutely - if not - you will use the special reduced fonctionality mode and only Internet Explorer will works
- You’ll get no Command Line Interface (nothing comparable to *nix systems)
- You’ll need to upgrade your hardware before, because it will slow down your computer, a lot
- Microsoft will spend millions in flashy dollars that would be better spent on “on fixing holes“
- You’ll still need to install drivers and office software and other alike to make it complete
- Suddenly some of your not so “legit” media collection will become really “not legit” because you won’t have the proper DRM.
- You may have problems if you change your motherboard
- You’ll have less money in your pocket
